AE MINIMA OF CAESAREA, CIRCA. 2nd CENTURY C.E.
Hamburger - (16 - 23 reverse type), TJC -, Fine / Good Very Fine, 13.2mm, 1.05 grams
Obverse: Bust of Artemis to right
Reverse: Palm tree with bunches of fruit
An EXTREMELY RARE seemingly unpublished coin! Although bearing similarity with Hamburger (Atiqot I) #'3s 16 - 23, all the known variations of this coin feature a Tyche on obverse. This coins present Artemis, similar to those found in Gerasa with the distinctive stephane hairstyle. These coins were found in and around Caesarea and are considered to have been struck in Caesarea and according to Hamburger possibly in Tyre.
