VARHRAN V, SASSANIAN AR DRACHM, 420 - 438 C.E.
Reverse: Fire altar with head of Varhran V to right on its shaft, flanked by two attendants, dotted border
Fully lustrous and very deep struck, a BEAUTIFUL coin!
Varhran V, also known as Bahrom Gor was the son of Yazdegard I (Izgader Malka mentioned in the Talmud) According to Sassanian/Pahlavian literature Yazdegard married Shushandukt the daughter of the Exilarch Huna (resh galuta), technically making Varhran V a Jewish Sassanian King. His proposed genealogy can be seen here
