PHILISTIA, GAZA? AR MA'AH (OBOL)
Gitler-Tal Pl. XXIII V.14O var., Very Fine / Fine with some roughness, 9.9mm, .77 grams. Struck Circa. 5th - 4th Century B.C.E.
Obverse: Bearded Oriental style male head facing right with Philistian 'M' for Marnas.
An EXTREME RARITY! A Philistian coin with a Philistian Oriental head on the obverse and Athenian styled owl on the reverse. The only one we could find published, is an example of this design but with different engraving style, in Gitler and Tal. The coin has some surface roughness, but the weight is still solid and the obverse quite clear.
