Several of the coins presented on our site are oddities purchased by the numismatist collector in his study of the manufacturing method of these coins. The Jewish War coin here is double struck. You can see the base of the amphora at 6:00 and again at 10:00.

The double strike on the Alexander Jannaeus is quite evident. This coin is also an interesting variant of Hendin 6189, with the sophisticated, elegantly engraved anchor side version and yet the simple ray side with no inscription!
