MAXIMIANUS AR ARGENTIUS
RIC 27b, NGC About Uncirculated, Strike 5/5, Surface 4/5, 3.60 grams, Rome Mint, Circa. 294 C.E.
Obverse: MAXIMIANVS AVG around laureate head of Maximianus to right
Reverse: The four Tetrarchs (Diocletian, Maximian, Galerius and Constantius) sacrificing over a tripod before city enclosure with six turrets, VIRTVS MILITVM around
A CHOICE silver argentius of excellent weight and nice strike with no flan cracks. (You have to look out for cracks on NGC slabbed coins especially the argentii, because they do not notate that). Lovely detail on the faces of the tetrarchs on the reverse which are often just seen as globules!
