Obverse: ΑΔΡΙΑΝΟϹ ϹΕΒΑϹ ΕΤ Ξ around laureate and draped bust of Hadrian to right
Reverse: ΦΛΑ / ϹΑΜΟ / ΜΗΤΡΟ / ΚΟΜ in four lines within wreath
Commagene was at the Northern tip of ancient Syria and one of the three Levantine provinces reorganized by Pompey the Great (Judaea, Commagene, Armenia). A scarce bronze of Hadrian, struck at the onset of the Bar Kokhba War at the Southern end of the Roman controlled territory.
