The bronze series of Bar Kokhba were struck over well-filed coins. Unlike the silver series it is rare and usually difficult to make out the undertype on the bronze coins. Nevertheless there are some known overstrikes over the cities of Gaza and Ascalon both lower coastal cities which are featured in Mildenberg. and which has been offered here before as well.
This coin however, is the FIRST Bar Kokhba overstrike we have handled, that is attributed to the city of Gadara, an extremely rare overstrike indeed! Please examine the photos. A good part of the city legend is CLEARLY seen on the coins. We cannot recall ever have seen another one offered.
