CAESAREA MARITIMA, TRAJAN DECIUS AE
Sofaer 108, 28.8mm, 20.0 grams! Struck Circa. 249 - 251 C.E.
Obverse: IMP C C MS Q TRA DECIVS AVG around radiate, draped and cuirassed bust of Trajan Decius to right
Reverse: Tyche standing to left holding small human bust and scepter,river-god swimming right, at feet to right
RARE with only one example in acsearch and a type never found in a strong condition. Apparently the same die as Sofaer but their coin tooled. This coin very thick and heavy with a natural deep copper, red and green patina. Amazingly all the obverse letters are preserved to some degree too. If you like substantial Biblical City coins that look and feel ancient and are hard to find, this may be the one!
